A 21-year-old man from Florida, Zayier Donteivus Zamarion Wilkins, was arrested by the FBI for orchestrating a scheme to steal cryptocurrency through video games. The operation involved distributing at least eight games embedded with malicious software designed to search for cryptocurrency wallet access keys on users’ computers.

Over two years, Wilkins’ scheme netted approximately $220,000 worth of stolen cryptocurrency. The games were spread through social media and bots to lure potential victims. Authorities traced the stolen bitcoins when they were used to purchase Uber Eats gift cards, leading to Wilkins’ arrest.

Among the malicious projects identified were Lunara, PirateFi, BlockBlasters, and Lampy. These games were distributed through Steam and were removed from the platform in early 2026. The case highlights the growing threat of cybercrime in the gaming industry, particularly through the distribution of malware-laden games.
