Counter-Strike 2 has experienced a decline in player numbers for seven consecutive months. The average concurrent player count on Steam fell to 805,637 in September. Since February, roughly a quarter of the average player base has been lost, totaling over 278,000 players.
April was the worst month for the decline, wiping out more than 94,000 average players and pushing numbers below one million. July saw the second largest hit with a drop of almost 7%, while June had a mild dip of 1.72% aided by the Cologne Major.
Peak player numbers dropped from over 1.71 million in March to a low of 1.33 million in August. September’s 2.38% drop was the mildest decline since June, and the last 30 days show a near-flat dip of just 0.39%. Meanwhile, the September peak recovered to over 1.45 million, representing an increase of nearly 120,000 compared to August.
