Steam’s monthly active user base is estimated to be approaching 200 million, based on open statistics as Valve has not released official data. Analyst Simon Carless from GameDiscoverCo estimates Steam had around 198 million monthly active users in the second half of 2025.

This figure is significantly larger than Sony’s reported 125 million active users in the PlayStation ecosystem. Steam’s audience may be over 50% larger than PlayStation’s, making it potentially one of the largest gaming platforms globally.

Additionally, Steam recently surpassed 41 million concurrent players, indicating a growing PC market that is expanding faster than the console market.

“In the second half of 2025, Steam had approximately 198 million active users per month,” Simon Carless said.
