Steam is on track to break financial records, with annual revenue projected to exceed $20 billion for the first time in history. Alinea Analytics reports that the platform generated approximately $1.7 billion in September 2026, marking a 13% increase over the previous September record.
Platform growth continued throughout the third quarter of 2026, reaching around $5.5 billion, which represents a 12% rise compared to Q3 2025. Total revenue for the first nine months of the year reached approximately $16.5 billion.
Alinea Analytics estimates that Steam needs to generate about $3.5 billion in the fourth quarter to surpass the $20 billion annual milestone. Free-to-play titles including Counter-Strike 2, Apex Legends, PUBG, and Dota 2 contributed nearly $168 million in September alone.
Paid new releases also drove significant financial gains during this period. Specifically, Wardogs generated $86.9 million after launching into early access on September 10.
