Riot Games will officially shut down League of Legends Classic in January 2027 after the conclusion of its third season. The mode failed to retain enough players to justify ongoing support in its current format despite heavy investments from developers.

Starting with patch 26.21, access to League Classic in Japan and the MENA region will be restricted exclusively to custom matches. Developers might bring the mode back in the future as a time-limited event similar to URF.

In addition to the shutdown, Riot will combine free rewards from the second act battle pass into a single track. The company also plans to issue refunds for Classic content that will no longer be usable after the mode’s removal.
