Esports organization Evil Geniuses announced the cessation of its operations after 27 years, with the final shutdown scheduled for November 2.

CEO Chris DeAppolonio cited a difficult situation in the industry, highlighting limited sponsor attraction and rising operational costs.

“Despite long-term investments and the dedication of the EG team, we have concluded that under current conditions the business cannot function stably and responsibly,” Chris DeAppolonio stated.

Founded in 1999, the club built a long history that included winning The International 2015 in Dota 2, VALORANT Champions 2023, and LCS Spring 2022 in League of Legends. Its final Dota 2 roster represented South America and placed 13th-16th at TI 2023.

“The legacy of EG dates back many years. Before us, it was shaped by countless incredible moments, people, teams, and content. It was an honor for me to be part of this,” Chris DeAppolonio added.
