Valve has launched a full ranking mode in Deadlock, accompanied by substantial matchmaking changes. The update aims to enhance game balance, though players may experience initial instability. Previously, ranked mode was the primary way to play, but now a separate standard mode is available for casual or training sessions.

To access the ranking system, players must win 15 matches using at least three different heroes. The new system includes 11 levels and sub-levels, with progress updates after each match. Daily requirements for top ranks will vary due to the limited number of elite players.

The updated matchmaking system strives for balanced games while allowing players to select their preferred hero. If balance issues arise, a hero swap feature is available before matches begin. Valve acknowledges potential issues, including longer queues, uneven match quality, and technical errors, which will be addressed in the coming days.

This update marks a significant step toward Deadlock’s future open beta test. Recent patches have steadily improved key elements, bringing the game closer to its public release.
