Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is considering a merger between Electronic Arts and Savvy Games. The potential deal aims to create one of the world’s largest gaming companies and improve coordination across major projects. It would combine massive franchises like Madden NFL, Battlefield, and The Sims with Savvy’s extensive mobile assets.
No final decision has been made yet. The merger could move forward after Savvy completes its acquisition of Moonton for $6 billion. The new holding would operate inside a global gaming market currently valued at $214 billion. However, the proposed transaction could face significant antitrust scrutiny and regulatory investigations.
The Public Investment Fund recently led a record $55 billion acquisition of Electronic Arts. Savvy previously purchased Scopely for $4.9 billion and Niantic’s gaming business for $3.5 billion. These moves are a central pillar of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 economic strategy. Turki Alnowaiser is currently leading Savvy on an interim basis following the resignation of CEO Brian Ward.
