PGL introduced a $30,000 fine for teams that withdraw from its tournaments after confirming their application for the 2027 season. The new regulatory update aims to prevent rosters from dropping out based on Valve Regional Standing ranking needs, especially ahead of Major qualifiers.

Withdrawing organizations must compensate the tournament organizer for booked flights and accommodation, alongside covering expenses for any replacement team. Additionally, these teams lose the right to a direct VRS invitation for the next PGL tournament that has not yet sent out invitations.

Exceptions apply exclusively to confirmed medical emergencies or visa denials outside of team control, which require official documentation. PGL CEO Silviu Stroie noted that the measures are designed to bring better organization to the professional scene, with financial sanctions reportedly taking effect from the fifth tournament on September 4-12, 2027.
