Former Monte coach kakafu has raised concerns about the decline in sticker sales revenue, urging Valve to find a solution to the problem. He expressed uncertainty about the future of CS, drawing a comparison to CS 1.6, which also required community or publisher support to thrive.
kakafu emphasized that the game cannot rely solely on the enthusiasm of its players and teams. He highlighted the importance of financial support, stating that the success of CS2 depends on more than just passion.
“Reaching the Major meant that everything paid off-the sacrifices and time invested in CS. Now, with all this, I don’t know where the future is heading, but I really hope Valve finds a way out. Even 1.6 couldn’t have survived on enthusiasm alone and needed community or publisher support,” kakafu said.
The former coach’s comments come at a time when the CS2 community is closely watching the game’s economic model. Sticker sales have traditionally been a significant revenue stream for teams and players, and their decline could have broader implications for the ecosystem.
