Counter-Strike 2 developers have implemented an update to the VACnet anti-cheat system aimed at improving detection of malicious players. Data miner Maxim ‘Gabe Follower’ Poletayev reported the update, which addresses a bug that previously allowed cheaters to bypass VACnet checks.
Major cheat providers have warned their users about the strengthened detection system, particularly its enhanced ability to identify ‘rage hacks’ and ‘spinbots’. Cheat developers now advise users to employ less noticeable features to avoid detection. However, the situation remains under observation, as past updates have sometimes led to partial rollbacks due to false positives.
The effectiveness of this update in combating cheaters will become clearer in the coming days. The development team is monitoring the results closely to ensure the system operates as intended.
“Fixed a bug that allowed malicious players to bypass VACnet checks,” Gabe Follower said.
