VRS analyst Mischief highlighted a critical vulnerability allowing teams to alter their region by playing merely five matches. This loophole lets rosters exploit point disparities across regions, hitting Asia and Oceania hardest because of their lower points ceiling driven by fewer events and participants.
Mischief submitted a formal proposal to Valve via GitHub to close this gap and prevent rapid regional transfers. The suggested fix requires evaluating all team matches across the preceding two months to accurately establish a team’s true regional standing.
Under the new system, regions would demand a minimum of 10 matches played or rely on the current active roster if thresholds remain unmet. Such adjustments would stretch quick region changes to roughly two months as historical results gradually fade from consideration. Valve has not issued a public response regarding the proposed GitHub changes yet.
