Johnta, the former CS pro and current coach of NAVI Junior, has criticized Ukrainian esports organizations for damaging their reputations and the overall image of Ukrainian esports. According to Johnta, three Ukrainian clubs have caused significant harm over the past year, leading to a negative perception among European players.
Johnta highlighted issues such as unpaid salaries and controversial statements, which have made Ukrainian organizations appear dubious. He emphasized the importance of proper communication in conflicts, even when the club is in the right. The treatment of former players, he noted, significantly affects how potential new players view the organization.
In response, representatives from Monte stated that their situation differs from cases involving Kono and Passion UA. They claimed no financial complaints from players except for a few current members and always paid salaries despite difficulties. Johnta agreed that comparisons might be unfair but noted the overall negative image of Ukrainian clubs remains a problem.
Despite his criticism, Johnta expressed support for Monte and other Ukrainian teams, understanding the internal situations and player attitudes.
“It’s sad to see how over the past year, three of our esports clubs have tarnished not only their own reputations but also the image of Ukrainian esports,” Johnta said.
“I agree, it’s unfair to compare. Each situation is different, but overall, a negative image is currently being formed,” Johnta added.
