Coach zhokiNg recently addressed the state of the competitive scene in China, pointing out a structural issue within the region. According to him, the talent pipeline suffers from a lack of depth and fresh competition.
This limited talent pool directly impacts player mentality and overall team performance.
“In China, the player pool is indeed too small; this might make the players in our team have a sense of security,” zhokiNg said.
Because viable replacements are scarce, competitors rarely feel pressured to perform under constant threat of being benched.
“They feel like they won’t be replaced so easily, leading them to not make efforts to break out of their comfort zone to improve,” zhokiNg added.
