HLTV insiders previously reported in January that Shanghai stands as the primary candidate to host the event, having already hosted a Major in 2024.

This announcement highlights a historic shift for the competitive calendar. Europe will not host a single Major throughout the entire year for the first time in Counter-Strike history. Meanwhile, the first Major of the 2027 season will head to Buenos Aires, Argentina, organized by FiReSPORTS.
