Complexity has officially ceased operations after 23 years in the industry. Former owner and CEO Jason Lake announced the shutdown decision at the end of 2025 after evaluating current business conditions and funding opportunities.

The organization stands as one of the most famous names in Counter-Strike history. It maintained a CS roster for nearly 22 years and competed in ten official majors. Lake re-acquired the brand in 2024, but the club left the discipline in August 2025 due to difficult market conditions. Rights to the Complexity brand have now returned to GameSquare.

“We decided that it would be best to close the organization in an orderly and professional manner rather than letting it collapse, as sometimes happens with other clubs,” Lake stated.

Lake addressed his future plans and confirmed that he intends to remain active within the competitive gaming industry.

“I am definitely not retiring. I love creating new projects and I love managing. I am extremely eager to build something new and am currently looking for where I can make my contribution,” Lake added.
